Should I key it up and allow the power output to go to normal, then use freeze spray to try to isolate this problem, or has someone else experienced this issue? Any feedback on this issue would be sincerely appreciated. The 2 meter section of the radio is perfect. I have no ALC until the power comes up to normal output, then I have good ALC action. It seems as though the heating that is occurring due to continuous output, helps to mitigate the issue. This situation causes my PEP output on SSB to be low also, and since there is no continual output the power never rises above 4 or 5 watts PEP. This also occurs in CW mode, and SSB mode also. In other words the output is low to start with, but quickly increases to rated power (25 Watts). This all takes about 2 or 3 seconds to occur. If you keep the mike keyed for a couple of seconds, the output quickly goes up to about 25 watts. When in FM mode, and you key the mike, the output power seems quite low (around 4 or 5 watts). Great Radio! My 736R seems to have a problem with 70cm transmit however. I have just recently got a hold of an FT-736R. My name is Dennis Normand and my call sign is k4edn.
